Brine Lacrosse Making a Strong Comeback
Nike Team Basketball - Part 2

Nike added Zoom Soldier II to the team basketball lineup for 2008. Inspiration for the shoe design coes from LeBron playing hoops using a milkcrate on Hickory Street while growing up.

Test Ride - Asics Gel Kayano 14

The 14th edition of the Asics Gel Kayano was released earlier this month with much anticipation. The Gel Kayano 14 features improved stability and a new upper geometry that is meant to enhance the fit in the rear foot. A new Solyte midsole material is the lighter cousin of ASICS’ EVA and SpEVA,with improved cushioning and durability. The personal heel fit also creates a personalized fit for the runner.
I picked up a pair two weeks ago and was excited to go back to the Kayanos, which I have not run in since version 12. On the first try on I immediately noticed the snug fit in the upper and the heel. The only drawback is the weight of the shoe, but keep in mind it is a highly cushioned stability shoe. I also enjoyed the feel out of the box; the solyte is a firm ride but very smooth once you put a few miles into the shoe. Overall, I recommend the Gel Kayano 14 if you fit the prescription for a stability shoe. If you were soured over the Gel Kayano 14 predecessors, I recommend visiting your local running store and trying it on for yourself. You may find yourself back in Asics.

Sneak Preview - Nike Team Basketball Footwear Lineup
As basketball is in mid-season form and just heating up, it is never too early to see what next season has in store for men's team footwear. Nike has just released the new lineup with great anticipation, arriving in August. Staying true to form of the past few years, the max, huarache, shox, and half-vis air are represented. The lineup, in order, consists of the Power Max, Hyperdunk, Shox Slam, Blue Chip, and Vis Air Reign Low. The Blue Chip takes a hint from the Adidas Pro Model of this year with patent leather. The Hyperdunk will be the official USA Team shoe this summer for Nike athletes.
In addition to the basketball shoe, Nike will also feature a men's and women's running and cross training shoe that will be featured on most of the Nike athletes during this summer Olympics. Stay tuned as I introduce them in upcoming posts.
